HL7-compliant and flat file interfaces allow clients the ability to tie the SPD function to the demands of the OR schedule.

• SPM® populates the OR system instrument dictionary providing naming conventions and descriptions consistent with Preference Cards
• Conflict checking of instrument requirements against actual available inventory levels (accounting for sets out for repair, etc.)
• Inventory shortfalls trigger set expedite messages with surgery schedule case identifier, room and time of surgery for work prioritization
• Allows manager to know the demands of the surgery schedule to mobilize resources required to meet demands efficiently and effectively
