Centers of Excellence

What is a Center of Excellence?

Center of Excellence (COE) status is awarded by Microsystems to customers who have achieved a high level of proficiency through continuous expansion of their use of SPM software.

In order to qualify for this status award, the Sterile Processing Department must pass a rigorous evaluation demonstrating competence in 28 different required areas of operational utilization. In addition, the department must have also shown extra initiative by demonstrating competence in the use of at least four out of nine elective areas.

Founded as a mission by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, St. Joseph’s Hospital has served the health care needs of Tampa since 1934. SJH strives to be a regional leader in medical excellence by improving the health of our community through accessible, compassionate and family-focused health care services. It is the largest not-for-profit health care provider in Hillsborough County, and is known for its advanced medical technology and surgery. Its Centers of Excellence include the Cancer Institute and Heart Institute.

DCH Regional Medical Center

DCH Regional Medical Center

DCH Regional Medical Center is the cornerstone of the DCH Health System. DCH Regional Medical Center operates specialty units for pediatrics, orthopedics, cancer and cardiology, as well as the region’s most advanced trauma center and intensive care units, and a Bloodless Medicine and Surgery program.

Physicians at DCH Regional Medical Center use many of the latest surgical techniques that require less recovery time, including microsurgery, laser surgery, laparoscopic and robotic surgery.

From the introduction of open-heart surgery in West Alabama in 1978 to today’s development of procedures that can dissolve blood clots without surgery, physicians at DCH Regional Medical Center offer patients many of the latest advances in cardiovascular care.

At the DCH Cancer Center, physician specialists in hematology, medical oncology and radiation oncology lead a dedicated team of nurses and technicians who provide advanced treatment and emotional support.

The Women’s Center at DCH Regional Medical Center offers rooms decorated in a homelike atmosphere, and two-room suites and private accommodations are available. The Women’s Center is staffed by an impressive team of professionals with the training, experience and compassion to make the birthing experience safe and enjoyable.

The hospital features a neonatal intensive care unit directed by physician specialists and staffed by experienced nurses.

It is home to the nationally recognized Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center, offering inpatient and outpatient therapy for brain and spinal cord injury, stroke and orthopedic patients.
